Lineages
The Lineage — Every LINEAL presentation is also a telling. Alongside the work, the artist speaks — in writing, in conversation, in their own voice — about its lineage: the teachers, places, losses, and inheritances inside it, and what the work means now. The object is the exhibition. The lineage is what makes it legible.
In Their Own Voice — Before the work, the telling. Each LINEAL artist speaks in their own voice about where the work comes from, what it means, and the place it belongs to — a street, a homeland, or an idea. These tellings are the Lineages, and they stay on the record after the exhibition moves on.
